Nine years.💛🧈
One afternoon of picking blackberries led to a jar of blackberry honey butter.
I posted that jar on Facebook, and Reney’s Honey Butter was born.
Not long after, I got a call from the Health Department telling me I had to stop selling until I found a commercial kitchen. It felt like door after door was closing. Maybe even slamming in my face.
But I didn’t give up.
After months of searching, I found a commissary kitchen and started setting up anywhere that would have me—farmers markets, vendor events, festivals… anywhere I could put up a table. I started creating new butter flavors, meeting new people, and little by little, Reney’s began to grow.
A couple of years later, I took another leap and rented a tiny building on the outskirts of town.
Then, just a few months later…
COVID hit.
People stopped coming inside, so we started taking Reney’s to them. We delivered food and gift baskets to people’s homes because I realized Reney’s was becoming about so much more than butter.
It was about community.
It was about reminding people they weren’t forgotten.
Toward the end of 2020, I got another phone call. The owners of our little building were planning to tear it down, and I had to find somewhere else to go.
Again, it felt like every door was closing.
Around that same time, I experienced the greatest loss of my life when my mom passed away.
There were nights I sat at my kitchen table with my dad and sister, crying over small sales, overwhelming grief, and wondering if this dream had reached its end.
I had a choice.
Play it safe…
…or take the biggest leap of my life.
After a lot of prayer, I chose the leap.
For the next three years, we planned, dreamed, faced setback after setback, and kept moving forward until we opened the Reney’s you see today.
And now, somehow, here we are again.
We’re in the running for a $50,000 Project BOSS Grant, and when I entered, I honestly had no idea this community would rally around us the way you have.
Reading your comments, seeing your messages, watching you share our story… it has been overwhelming in the very best way.
Today, we’re only a few hundred votes away from first place.
And just like every challenge over the last nine years…
I’m not giving up.
If Reney’s has ever been part of your story—if you’ve enjoyed a biscuit, celebrated in our café, attended Butter Babes, laughed with friends around one of our tables, or simply believe in cheering on small businesses—I would be so honored if you’d help us bring this home.
💛 All you have to do is “like” our comment on the original Project BOSS post. I’ll put the link in the comments.
From the bottom of my heart…
Thank you for believing in this dream.
