We’re Amy and Bousa, and we’re so happy to serve you at Thai on Main Street. Bousa grew up in Laos, in a small village 60 kilometers outside of the capital city of Vientiane. Growing up, Bousa’s village didn’t have running water or electricity, and tilling the farm fields was done with water buffalo -- and this was just 30 years ago. Bousa’s family were and still are sticky rice farmers -- sticky
rice being the quintessential Lao staple food. They also raise cattle, ducks, in addition to having a large vegetable garden. Bousa moved to Vientiane for high school, where he later completed his Bachelors degree at the National University of Laos. After graduation from Western Washington University, she had the itch to travel before settling down to a boring job, so she took a ‘Gap Year’ to travel around SE Asia. She spent several months exploring Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar (Burma) and Malaysia. Having fallen hopelessly in love with SE Asia on this trip, she came home to the USA only to work, save money, and the travel more extensively around Thailand and Laos. She ultimately returned to Laos to live, teach and write for a magazine. It was while living in Vientiane in 2006 that Bousa and Amy met. Bousa’s mom taught him to cook at a young age, and he has always had a natural knack creating delicious food. He also worked as a chef for several years at another Thai restaurant in Snohomish county. Having his own restaurant is really his dream come true. Bousa and Amy’s goal as the owners of Thai on Main Street is to offer the most delicious, freshest and authentic Thai food around and to share the singular beauty and uniqueness of Lao food and culture with our customers. We hope to see you soon,
