Catered By Design's mission is to bring your events to life with sumptuous food and refreshing beverages presented in spectacular fashion. This also includes being a good steward of the environment. Our goal is to continually improve our sustainability practices by working closely with our vendors and partners to minimize the impact on the environment. Sam Gray, the President of Catered by design, started in his grandmother's kitchen as just a young kid, working up into Executive Chef positions at multiple restaurants and opening a few of his own, Sam has a lifetime of experience under his belt. Deciding to settle down over 17 years ago and began his journey with Catered by Design, he has built a loyal team to create and serve thousands of food & event seeking clients in Chicago and the greater area.

💍 Finally saying goodbye to warm weather, but forever thinking about Averie & James’ summertime wedding at Bridgeport Art Center ! We couldn’t help but fall in love with A&J ~ their big day was filled with great company, great vendors, and great bites. We hope everyone enjoyed their meals, and we wish A&J a lifetime of happiness! 🌙 We made our own midnight margaritas inspired by Practical Magic for the Halloween season using Inspiro Tequila | Woman-Owned + Additive-Free ~ try brewing this witchy twist on margaritas for your Halloween party! We took our classic margarita recipe and made it into a potion with edible glitter, pomegranate sugar for the rim, and a dried lime wheel. This is the perfect batched cocktail that’s practically magic!

✨ Try out different glassware and disposables to make your cocktail even more magical! For full-service parties, you have the option between:
Gorgeous rental glassware great for plated and intimate affairs
House glassware ideal for cocktail receptions and stationed events
Compostable disposables are a great budget friendly option best suited for a more relaxed atmosphere

🍸Batched Ingredients:
💧 2 1/2 cups Inspiro Tequila Blanco
💧 2/3 cups Triple Sec (Can substitute with Cointreau)
🍋‍🟩 1 1/4 cups Lime Juice
🍯 2/3 cups Agave (Can substitute with Simple Syrup)
🧂 Blue & Silver Edible Glitter
🧂 Pomegranate Sugar for rim
🍋‍🟩 Dried Lime Wheel for garnish

🎬 Directions: Add tequila, triple sec, agave, and lime juice into a pitcher filled with ice and stir. Once properly stirred, add in glitter and continue to stir until thoroughly mixed in and becomes desired color.

🍁 The annual Sustainable Events Collective pumpkin smash party is almost here! Rather than just tossing your pumpkins, smash them! You bring the pumpkins and gourds, and SEC will provide you, your family, friends, and neighbors with all the tools to do some pumpkin demolition. Once you’re done, SEC will responsibly compost them and prevent those bits from ending up in a landfill!

✨ This month’s selection is the Harken Chardonnay which is featured on our Platinum Bar Service package and Tier Two W**e & B**r Tier Package. This robust and buttery chardonnay contains notes of crème brûlée, pear & oak ~ perfect for the fall weather and autumn events. To pair with this rich w**e, we recommend our Panko-crusted Stuffed Chicken Breast, and of course, our Crème Brûlée Tartlets!

💘 We’re still thinking about Gabrielle and Josiah’s dreamy The Library at 190 South LaSalle | Chicago Venue wedding day! We adored each of the small details that made up their day from the cute coneflower-like table lamps to the gorgeous white and blue florals accented by the matching linens. Their custom menu featured complementary dishes such as our Wintry salad, Strawberry Cheesecake Tartlets, and Vanilla Panna Cotta ~ we hope everyone got to indulge and enjoy!
