The Best in Baker 2026 is in the books. We had an outstanding cook yesterday. I won the non traditional cake division. I think Chris and Kaitlin will be thrilled there will not be 2 pound cakes a week cooked. It took me 6 weeks of testing and tweaking, but I nailed it. We walked in pork with 3rd place and 1st in Ribs scoring a perfect 600. That is a hard feet to do. We have done this only 2 other times. We came out 3rd overall.
You really can’t call yourself a seasoned bbq team unless you have cooked in a storm. We are well seasoned. The gates opened and it was pretty rough there, but that rain had been prayed for and it was an amazing thing to hear. We made it home saw the family took showers and was asleep at 8.
We want to thank Matt Wilford for letting us come down and cook with an outstanding group of bbq teams. We would also like to thank Middle and South Georgia BBQ Network for everything they did to help out. We love being apart of this network of people in the BBQ Community. We got so many messages and text from other teams in the way home last night with congratulations. We need to thank Mark Hunsaker Friends Of Hunsaker Vortex Smokers. We got another perfect 600 yesterday. We are 3 smokers in and proud to be apart of that family.
Next completion is in 2 weeks…no cakes involved .. but we will be there!!
