If you want to learn more, come on out to the “Building a Fair Economy for All: Town Hall on Trade and Tariffs” event on Tuesday June 16th at 5:30 at Brix. It’s put on by Global Trade Watch in collaboration with the Wisconsin Farmers Union, and Main Street Alliance. Guest speakers include our congressional representative Mark Pocan, Ambassador and US Trade Representative Katherine Tai, Shawn Phetteplace of Main Street Alliance, and Kriss Marion of The Wisconsin Farmers Union.

For small businesses across Wisconsin, the Supreme Court’s ruling that the Trump administration’s sweeping IEEPA tariffs were unconstitutional could mean real money back in their pockets.

We’re inviting candidates for Governor of Wisconsin to take a seat on the Brix stage — not exactly the “hot seat,” because Brix is a pretty warm and welcoming place. Let’s call it the warm seat.

But we do have questions!

Who are these candidates? What do they believe? What experiences shaped them? What do they understand about small towns, small businesses, farms, families, schools, healthcare, housing, climate, democracy, and the everyday lives of people across Wisconsin?

The plan is simple: two comfy chairs, a couple microphones, and a real conversation. Brix co-owner Matt will sit down with each candidate for a thoughtful interview intended to move beyond the usual talking points and create a more human connection with the people asking to shape our state’s future.

Afterward, we’ll open things up for audience questions and continue the conversation together.

We love our little town and our place in the world, and we believe civic life works best when people show up curious, looking to become more informed and connected. These events are intended to help us do that.

Dates and candidate announcements are coming soon. The events are co-hosted by Brix, , Progressive Trolls, and Southwest Wisconsin Area Progressives.
