A few days ago, I was laying in a hospital bed thinking about how easy it is to forget that your body got limits too.

As men…especially entrepreneurs…we wear exhaustion like a badge of honor. We tell ourselves “just one more day,” “just one more order,” “just one more push.”

But I met a woman whose story stuck with me heavy. She pushed herself nonstop…worked through everything…kept going until her body finally gave out. And she never made it back home.

That hit me different.

Because most people only see the finished product. They see the food truck open. The food hot. The customers smiling. The motion.

What they don’t see is the propane runs. The cleaning. The inventory. The prep. The cooking. The packaging. The long hours in the heat, cold, rain, and whatever else comes with it. They don’t see the pressure that comes with wearing every hat just to keep the business alive.

And somewhere in all that…you can forget to take care of YOU.

This hospital visit reminded me that rest is not laziness.
Breaks are not weakness.
Slowing down before your body forces you to is wisdom.

Because what’s the point of building something if you’re too burnt out to enjoy the life attached to it?

Take the break.
Drink the water.
Go to the doctor.
Get the sleep.
Let your body recover.

Your business needs you healthy more than it needs you exhausted.

How did I survive survival guilt… and do I still have it?
I used to be so broke, I didn’t even believe I deserved more.
That mindset will keep you stuck… make struggle feel normal.
But I had to shift it.
Where I’m from, everybody been broke.
Nobody been rich.
So this right here?
It’s overdue.
I’m not in survival no more…
I’m in position.
And once you realize you deserve better,
you stop just getting by… and start building something real.
I’m not chasing it anymore.
I expect it.

I learned how to cook out of survival…
being the oldest, making sure me and my brothers had something to eat, even when it wasn’t much.
Turned nothing into something.

I flipped them same skills into a business that feeds the people now 🤝
