We woke up today, and our Milwaukee Brewers are playing in the World Series.
Just read that again.
For the first time in 44 years, our Brewers are playing baseball on the biggest stage there is. And if that brings a tear to your eye, you’re certainly not alone.
There were plenty of watery eyes at American Family Field during that Game 4 watch party. Thousands of people, many of them complete strangers, hugging, screaming, laughing, and crying as blue and yellow streamers fell from above. Tears sparkling beneath the lights as 44 years of waiting finally came to an end.
Not to mention: we swept the f****** Dodgers.
Sorry. That still gets us a little excited.
Actually, excited doesn’t even begin to describe it.
We’re excited for the baseball, obviously. But we’re just as excited for everything that comes with it.
We’re excited to hear the trumpets blaring for Wild Bill. To hear an entire stadium erupt over a ball sailing into the outfield. To grill burgers and brats with our friends. To play bags in the parking lot. To have one too many b**rs and justify it because, well, it’s for a good cause.
We’re excited for the strangers who will become friends over the next few games. For the high fives across crowded bars. For the car horns, the jerseys, the flags, and the sound of an entire city celebrating something together.
Because that’s what makes this special.
Milwaukee is a hardworking city. A city with its share of struggles, setbacks, and people just trying to make it through another week. We don’t always agree on everything. We don’t all come from the same neighborhoods, backgrounds, or walks of life. But right now, we’re all wearing the same colors.
For a little while, the things that divide us seem smaller than the thing bringing us together. And there’s something beautiful about that.
Think about the people who remember 1982. The kids who grew up listening to Bob Uecker on the radio. The parents who taught their children to love this team, and the grandparents who passed that love down another generation. Think about the people who waited their entire lives for this moment, and the people we wish were still here to share it.
Somewhere today, somebody is wearing a Brewers hat that belonged to their dad. Somebody is remembering their first game at County Stadium. Someone is taking their child to a ballgame, not knowing they’re creating a memory that child will carry for the rest of their life. That’s bigger than baseball.
And would you look at the weather today? A beautiful October day in Wisconsin, just in time for the World Series. We’d like to think Ueck called in a favor with the big guy upstairs. After everything he’s given this city, we figure he’s earned at least one.
The road here wasn’t easy, even if our guys made it look that way sometimes. We were counted out, overlooked, and told that teams with bigger names and payrolls were supposed to win.
But we didn’t need to be anybody else.
We won our way.
With grit, heart, hustle, and a bunch of guys who believed in each other. The kind of baseball that feels right at home in Milwaukee.
And now here we are.
Tonight, the lights come on, the first pitch gets thrown, and a new chapter of Milwaukee history begins.
So soak it all in. Hug your friends. Call your parents. Raise a glass to the people who can’t be here. Take pictures. Make memories. Sing a little louder. Cheer until your voice gives out.
Because someday, years from now, somebody is going to ask you where you were when the Brewers went to the World Series in 2026… and you’re going to remember exactly how this felt.
From all of us at Mug Z’s, to every Brewers fan who’s ever believed… Cheers. This one’s for all of us. 🍻
