Strega is re-opening for the summer season next weekend!!! So let’s celebrate with a Rome-inspired feast!!

Let’s eat like the Romans Do! We are offering a 7-course regional Lazio dinner with wines of the region. Dinner is $75/person and wine pairings are available for $45. More details and reservations at strega.fun

Lazio is a region in central Italy that is full of history and a diverse landscape of mountains, rivers, lakes, plains and the sea, ideal for cultivating plenty of culinary delights.

Rachael’s very first journey to Italy was in Lazio. She lived in an ancient walled-in city called Casperia in the Sabina Mountains just outside of Rome, where she worked in an Agriturismo (farm/restaurant). Needless to say, Lazio and its cuisine is very near and dear to her heart.

This spring, we took the strega staff to visit the region; explored the roman countryside, tasted wines and visited Rachael’s old boss in Casperia for a cooking class! We are so excited to come back and share our fresh inpiration along with some old favorites!

We hope you will join us for this multi-course family-style meal with food and wine from this fabulous region!

Antipasti:

Bruschetta con Aglio (garlic rubbed grilled bread)
Carciofi alla Romana (Artichokes with mint/oregano sauce!)
Porchetta (Crispy stuffed Pork)
“Puntarelle” inspired Asparagus and Radish Salad with salted anchovies

Primi:

Homemade Fettuccine with Butter & Truffles
Rigatoni All’Amatriciana (Pasta with Black pepper and Pork-laced Tomato Sauce)

Secondi:

Saltimboca (veal rolls with prosciutto and sage)
Coda alla Vaccianara (Roman oxtail stew)

Contorni:

Fagiolini in Pomodoro (string beans and asparagus in tomato)
Roasted Potatoes, Strega Style

Dolce:

Ciambelline (Roman wine cookies)

**Please ask about dietary restrictions in advance! We will do our best to accommodate, and will bulk up portions of dishes everyone at the table can eat but don’t always offer substitutions at each course. This dinner is not suitable for all diets.

What happens when one of Rachael’s best friends who is a mega-fan of Strega has a fun idea for a themed dinner and art performance? ….🎭 We make it happen!

The backstory: Kathy Houghton had the brilliant idea for us to host a Casablanca (the film) themed night and Moroccan dinner. The only problem? Rachael hadn’t been to Morocco.... yet. And now here we are in late April... closed for the spring season, and Rachael has been doing her research in Moracco and will be popping up at strega to share her fresh inspiration from her travels there!

So please join us for this fun pop-up! Come dressed in your 1940’s best and be ready to feast on Moroccan food, enjoy a theatrical montage, and hear some of our favorite old time music performed by Sir Noah Bauer on the Piano.

Dinner will be multi-coursed and served family style at your table, so round up friends and family! Think savory & sweet flavors, aromatic spices, succulent tagines (tender stews cooked in clay pots), dried fruits, cumin, saffron, cinnamon, turmeric, ras el hanout (“head of shop” complex spice blend), b’stilla (savory meat pies dusted with powdered sugar), cous cous, preserved lemons, harissa (spicy sauce), olives, and so much more!

Dinners are next weekend- Saturday and Sunday. (4/25 & 4/26) $75/person; beverage pairings will be offered for $45.

Moroccan Dinner & Casablanca theme night at strega!

Khobz (Moroccan bread)
Garlic marinated olives
Tchoktchoka (red pepper and tomato dip)
Zaalouk (Smokey eggplant dip)
Harissa (spicy tangy sauce)

Marinated Octopus with onion-raisin sauce
Sardine Balls with orange & mint
Lamb kefta kebabs

Pastilla (chicken, egg & almond phyllo pie dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar)

Rfissa with lentils, peanuts and boiled eggs

Warm spiced Couscous with saffron, carrot, zucchini & preserved lemon

Chicken Tagine with Apricots, Olives, Potatoes & Onion

Moroccan Chopped Salad with Cucumber, tomato, cabbage, radish, parsley, chopped pickles

Sesame Orange & Honey Semolina Cake
