⚓️ A True New Bedford Legend: Captain Paul Dubois ⚓️
At just 21 years old, after returning from military service in 1960, Paul Dubois stepped onto the scallop boat Noreen and began a remarkable journey on the water. Over the next 56 years, Paul did it all—scalloping, dragging, swordfishing, and eventually captaining his very own lobster boat.
Even after selling his boat nearly ten years ago, Paul couldn’t stay away from the docks. Today, at 86 years young, he still works at Hercules, helping supply the fishing industry he has loved his entire life.
Recently, Paul stopped by Cultivator, just around the corner from where so many of his memories were made. He told us how much he enjoyed the new space and that he’ll be back—because downtown and the dockside will always have his heart.
People like Paul are the backbone of our city. Their hard work, stories, and dedication built the community we all love today.
Thank you, Paul, for continuing to share your love of the waterfront with us. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Cultivator soon. ❤️⚓️🦞
