When you just need to have bread everyday ... make it sourdough. Make it sourdough from The Challah Fairy. Sliced very thin. Doesn't need to be thick. For quality control purposes I had to have one. Toasted with a shmear of homemade mayonnaise - yummm - is there any other way to have mayo - with a thick slice of beefsteak tomato and a sprinkle od salt. I am in heaven. Don't even talk to me. Oh. And I just started watching Pretty Woman on Netflix for the gazillionth time. Such a fun movie.

Today is Yom Hashoah. Holocaust Remembrance Day. Truthfullly. I think about the Holocaust almost every day. I am a first generation American. Every year I think of something new to share with "you", my friends. When my father was liberated from Bergen Belsen at the age of 11-1/2, he was an orphan. His amazing parents were both gone. His father, a diamond cutter, was wanted by the Germans for the war effort. This was a "hard no". And so, after they were brought to BB, he was taken to a different camp. We were notified years later that he was not treated well. Read between the lines. His mom was taken to a different camp where she was forced to work in a salt mine, where she sadly succumbed. Opa and Oma had a home in Amsterdam Holland which was infused with middos. It was open to guests and Oma was a super hostess. I used to tell my Dad, z"l, who passed away almost four years ago, how much his parents would have absolutely adored us all. Today his parents have a living legacy of well over 120 great grandchildren. Dad...we all miss you so much. Your wise advice about our health, your incredible knowledge about almost any subject, your love and respect of Mom, your incredible commitment to being an observant Jew despite everything you went through and so much else, continues to guide us. I wonder what you told your parents when they greeted you in Gan Eden. Love you Dad.
