Meet Tau / conoce Tau

Something new is coming to the streets.

TAU is not a restaurant—at least not yet. 😉

Right now, TAU is a Honduran food truck, bringing the flavors, memories, and traditions of Honduras directly to you.

We’re serving by the plate—real food, generous portions, bold flavors, and dishes inspired by the food we grew up loving.

TAU is a love letter to Honduras. ❤️🇭🇳

It’s about our mothers and grandmothers.
Our kitchens.
Our ingredients.
Our memories.
Our culture.

We’re taking traditional Honduran flavors and giving them our own modern expression—without losing what makes them special.

From baleadas and beans to loroco, handmade tortillas, rice, meats, sauces, and the flavors that take you straight home…

This is Honduras on a plate.

🇭🇳 ESTO ES HONDURAS.
🇭🇳 ESTA ES NUESTRA HISTORIA.
🇭🇳 ESTO ES TAU.

TAU will start as a food truck.

But we’re dreaming much bigger.

The first plate is only the beginning.

🌎 TAU — The world is about to taste Honduras.

Algo nuevo está llegando a las calles.

TAU no es un restaurante—todavía. 😉

A nuestras madres y abuelas.
A nuestras cocinas.
A nuestros ingredientes.
A nuestros recuerdos.
A nuestra cultura.

The use of loroco comes from Maya and Lenca heritage, reflecting an ancient connection to the land and the tradition of consuming edible flowers.

The combination of scrambled eggs with loroco is a popular breakfast or dinner, often prepared using traditional techniques such as cooking over firewood.

Long before Chef Melissa Araujo opened the popular Alma Café in New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood in 2020, she knew deep in her soul that she was destined to be a chef.

Born in the beach town of La Ceiba, Atlántida, Honduras, Araujo’s culinary journey began with the vibrant flavors of her homeland. Though her family later relocated to Providence, Rhode Island, for her father’s work, she spent her summers in Honduras on her grandmother’s family farm. Those summers weren’t just a time to reconnect with her heritage—they became formative years where her love for cooking flourished under her grandmother’s watchful and loving eye.
