Cointelpro would put Baldwin & Co. Baldwin and Company at the top of their terrorist watch list if they knew meetups like this, (Eddie Glaude Jr. Eddie S Glaude Jr., Ibram X. Kendi Ibram X. Kendi, & Imani Perry Imani Perry) was happening here.

This will sound bias, but it is the truth… If the people of this country are serious about saving democracy from authoritarianism, they need to understand that resistance begins with an educated, organized, and intellectually engaged community. Find your nearest Black-owned bookstore. Buy books. Read relentlessly. Gather your friends, neighbors, and community leaders there. Debate ideas. Challenge assumptions. Organize.

Historically, Black-owned bookstores have been gathering places for some of our greatest thinkers and the birthplace of conversations that helped transform this nation. We need that intellectual energy again. Because authoritarianism thrives where critical thinking dies, and the greatest threat to those who seek to control a people is a community that refuses to stop thinking.

Some people think the idea of Donald Trump serving a third presidential term is foolish. But Ibram X. Kendi argues that what’s truly foolish is believing it could never happen.

History has taught us a dangerous lesson: Democracy doesn't always collapse overnight. Sometimes, it erodes because people underestimate what those in power are willing to do.

The greatest threat to democracy may not be what we see coming, but what we refuse to believe is possible.

In this provocative conversation, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi challenges us to confront an uncomfortable question: Are we preparing for the unimaginable, or simply assuming it can't happen?

🎙️ Tune in to the Baldwin & Co. Podcast for this powerful conversation about Trump, authoritarianism, and the future of American democracy.

Don't just read about interesting people. Come sit in a room with them.

NEW ORLEANS, TONIGHT IS NOT AN EVENT YOU WANT TO HEAR ABOUT TOMORROW!

What does it mean to grow older in a society obsessed with youth? Why are women expected to become invisible as they age? And who decided that getting older means becoming less powerful, less desirable, or less relevant?

Tonight at Baldwin & Co., we're challenging that entire narrative.

Join us for an unforgettable evening with Amanda Holden, as we explore her provocative work, How to Be a Rich Old Lady, and confront some of the most fascinating questions about aging, wealth, independence, womanhood, and the freedom to live life entirely on your own terms.

Because here's something worth thinking about:

What if the most powerful, liberated, and extraordinary chapter of your life is still ahead of you?

This is about more than money. It's about reclaiming your time, your identity, your ambition, and your future. It's about refusing to let society dictate what your life should look like at any age.

And these are exactly the kinds of conversations we're building Baldwin & Co. to host.

A place where brilliant minds gather, conventional wisdom gets challenged, and a single conversation can fundamentally change how you see the world.

Don't just read about interesting people. Come sit in a room with them. Ask questions. Challenge your thinking. Be part of something bigger.

Today, we’re proud to announce that Baldwin & Co. is producing FORWARD, a new podcast hosted by award-winning journalist, author, and cultural commentator Charles M. Blow.

But this is bigger than a podcast.

When I founded Baldwin & Co., I never envisioned simply just selling books. I wanted to create an intellectual hub where the world's greatest thinkers, writers, journalists, and creatives could gather to think out loud, challenge ideas, and spark conversations that move society forward.

Today, we're taking that vision beyond our walls.

Baldwin & Co. is evolving into a media company -- producing original content, amplifying independent voices, and bringing important conversations directly into homes around the world.

At a time when prominent Black voices are disappearing from major media platforms, we're building our own.

BECAUSE WE DON'T JUST WANT A SEAT AT THE TABLE. WE WANT TO BUILD THE TABLE.

Imagine a bookstore that doesn't just host influential thinkers but produces their content, distributes their ideas globally, and preserves those conversations for generations.

A bookstore that doubles as a production studio, media platform, cultural institution, and gathering place for intellectual movements.

That's the future we're building.

We believe bookstores can do more than sell stories. They can shape narratives, elevate voices, challenge conventional thinking, and influence the national conversation.

And with your continued support, we're proving what's possible.

The future of bookstores won't be defined by how many books they sell, but by how many minds they open and how profoundly they influence the world beyond their walls.

Visit us at 1030 Elysian Fields Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117.
Open 7 days a week from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Baldwin & Co. : A platform for ideas. A home for independent voices. A new force in media.

Some people walk into a bookstore looking for a book. Others walk out having discovered a whole new perspective on the world.

At Baldwin & Co., we believe bookstores are more than places to buy books. They are spaces for curiosity, discovery, intellectual freedom, and personal transformation.

Every shelf holds a different story. Every book offers a new way to see the world. And every reader has the potential to change it.

Come curious. Leave inspired. Think out loud.
