This has been one of the most challenging times of our lives as my father suffered from a major seizure in the height of King Cake season. We have somehow managed to still get King & Queen Cakes out to you all in the midst of being at his bed side, and I thank each and every one of our customers (new and returning) for supporting us, being so kind to share your favorite La Vie En Rose Experience!

20 years ago, I was 13, completely unable to process my emotions, but my body was in complete shock. I felt so much loss, it was hard to process. I felt so guilty because our new home in Algiers was not destroyed, but everyone I knew LOST EVERYTHING. We have to check ourselves, 20 years later I see a New Orleans that is almost unrecognizable. Some familiar landmarks yes but what is this place?! MARDI GRAS HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME. I loved Mardi Gras so much, I still vividly remember the years spent at Lee Circle with my family. My Uncle was the Police and my Grandmother lived right above in the Tivoli! Every year we knew exactly where we’d be!!! These are the moments I hold so deeply in my heart and what fuels my desire to keep going. I love creating things that make me feel the warmth of what New Orleans means to me. New Orleans is every fiber within us and it’s our duty to continue to fill her up with love, community, culture, and TOGETHERNESS 🌹
