La celebración no es lo mismo sin pastelitos y quipes.

Un cumpleaños dominicano no empieza con el pastel. Empieza en la cocina, con el aceite caliente, las bandejas llenas, y alguien diciendo “prueba uno” antes de que lleguen los invitados. Los pastelitos desaparecen primero. Los quipes, crujientes por fuera y suaves por dentro, no duran mucho más.

Hay música alta, abrazos largos, y una mesa que siempre tiene más de lo necesario. No es exceso. Es hospitalidad. Es memoria. Es la forma dominicana de decir: estás en casa.
