To Our Loyal Underline and Apes & Peacocks Friends,
I hope that this finds you safe and well. I apologize for the delay in reaching out. This has been so damned difficult to write. I moved to New York with two goals: to convince Deb to marry me and to start a coffee company. It took some time, but where I lack natural gifts, I balance with persistence. And, prior to March 15th, I was living the dream.
Since then, our family has safely hunkered down waiting out the storm of the pandemic that affects us all. Our financial endurance and the many questions that cloud a reliable read of the future lead us to make this sad announcement. We are not reopening Underline Coffee or Apes & Peacocks Coffee Roasters. It’s just not feasible at this time.
Please know that I truly enjoyed running The Underline, making great coffee for the neighborhood, and meeting such amazing friends. Thank you, thank you, and thank you! (Oh, here come the onions!) Alright… I’ve been your host for 6 years and a good host does not send guests off on a down note.
Professionally, I am returning to my other toolbox, which literally is a toolbox. Some of you know that before opening Underline, I designed and built furniture and cabinetry. Woodworking is another true passion of mine, so this isn’t a bad plan B. You can check out the next page in the story of Team Tully at TullyMade.com (http://tullymade.com) .
Lastly, I know many of us may not find our morning fix at a neighborhood shop anytime soon, and have been making due with our home options. If you do have any coffee questions, whom to order from, what is the best grinder, whatever, shoot me an ask. I’d love to help.
Bless y’all, and cheers,
Brandon & Deb
