Repost from Welcome to our home!

One year ago today, we unknowingly served our last dinner at our original location at 151 Rivington St. Since then, we struggled with the impact of the pandemic, and we determined the need to reinvent ourselves and to adapt to a new environment.

We are excited to announce that we will join forces with our sister restaurant and reopen Yopparai at 49 Clinton St on the LES. Our new home has been renovated to bring together the best of Yopparai and Azasu, and we also plan to introduce some new design elements and menu offerings.

We will begin soft opening this week and welcome walk-in parties for indoor dining. Stay tuned for details of our official reopening in a couple of weeks. We are grateful for your support and hope that you will join us for this next step of our journey!

Repost from 😢

Last night the NYC Dept of Transportation withdrew our outdoor dining permit and those of 4 neighboring restaurants to make room for construction of a large private development on our block. Sadly the DOT’s action puts all of our small businesses at risk at a time when indoor dining is also suspended. Though we hope to appeal this action, we will not be able to take new reservations for our kotatsu pods after this weekend. If you have a future reservation with us, we will contact you directly about it. Note that the kotatsu pods at our sister restaurant will not be impacted.

If you have ideas or suggestions for how to appeal this action, we would welcome your support! Stay tuned for future information about our restaurant. 🙏🏻
