In 2003, founder Roland Dib backpacked th
rough Nicaragua, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. Along the way, he met children, women and families who were living without access to basic education, employment and health care. When he returned home, Roland created Giving for Living to help the families he met during his travels abroad. To date, Giving for Living has donated over 12 million articles of clothing, shoes, bicycles and books to children, women and families living in Central America. Giving for Living operates a mobile library (bibliotec mobil) that drives through local towns and villages, grants micro-loans to local working women and transports medication and equipment to local health care clinics.
