Born from the love of Filipino food, we want to add our own personal touch to one of the culture’s most popular snacks by mixing traditional flavors with locally-sourced and responsibly-produced ingredients. Lumpia Shack is an idea and creation that has been in the making since 1999 at friends and families houses, apartments, and backyards bbqs. We strive to provide the best food possible not only
for our family and friends but for everyone willing to taste our food! We offer a variety of seasonal fillings and sauces, and specials that change every week. All handmade with love and care! Neil Syham is chef and co-owner of Lumpia Shack, Adobo Shack, and Lumpia Shack Snackbar. Prior to opening his own business, Neil honed his skills at NYC restaurants, hotels, and corporate dining centers. It was during this time that Neil developed his approach to cooking, which blends his Filipino-Chinese background, American upbringing, and classic culinary training with a passion for using the best ingredients from local farms and purveyors. Neil and his wife, Angie, opened Lumpia Shack, a food stand that focuses on Filipino-inspired snacks prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients, at the Brooklyn Flea's Smorgasburg market in 2012. Following the success of their first venture, Neil and Angie subsequently opened a second Smorgasburg outlet, Adobo Shack, and their first brick and mortar outpost, Lumpia Shack Snackbar, in Manhattan's West Village. Since opening Lumpia Shack, Neil has taken home numerous awards, including "Best Market Vendor" at the Vendy Awards (2013), "2013 Professional Chef Champion" at the Kulinarya Showdown (the largest Filipino cooking competition in the U.S.), and first place at Smorgasburg's Eat (Red) competition (2014), judged by Mario Batali and Dominique Ansell. Lumpia Shack has also been featured in New York Magazine and was ranked #62 on its "101 Best Cheap Eats" list in 2014.
