More than half my life ago, Drew Nieporent and Robert De Niro introduced me to someone I am blessed to now call one of my dearest friends: David Rockwell—an extraordinary architect, designer, artist, and visionary whose creativity has transformed the way we experience the world around us.
David has many gifts, both as an artist and as a friend. His innate ability to blend imagination, beauty, and humanity into every space he creates is unmatched. His work is never simply about design. It is about storytelling, connection, and creating moments that bring people together.
Beyond his remarkable achievements, what I cherish most is the generosity of his spirit, his curiosity, his kindness, and the passion he brings to everyone and everything he touches.
Whether we are at the theater, delivering meals to families on Christmas Day with Citymeals on Wheels, dining in one of the many restaurants he has designed, listening to him play the harmonica or piano, or simply checking in with one another, David continues to inspire me.
He sees possibilities where others see limitations, and through both his artistry and the way he lives his life, he has inspired countless others to do the same.
Happy monumental birthday, my dear friend. It is truly an honor to have witnessed the brilliance, warmth, and heart behind your life and your work.
