We understand that there has been speculation surrounding the passing of owner and chef Adam Lener, and we kindly request that you respect the privacy of our family during this difficult time.

We appreciate the interest and support shown, but we are currently focusing on sorting out the necessary details following his passing. Once we have had the opportunity to navigate this process and consider the future of the restaurant, we will be open to entertaining any potential interest.

Dear valued patrons,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Portobello Café, a beloved establishment that has been serving our community for 27 years. Unfortunately, this decision has been forced upon us due to the sudden and unexpected passing of our owner, Adam Lener.

Regrettably, we must close our doors on Tuesday May 16 due to legal reasons. While our family sorts out the details, we cannot continue to run the restaurant. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for us, as Portobello Café has been a labor of love and a fixture in the community for many years.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of our patrons who have supported us throughout the years. We have been honored to be a part of your lives and your special occasions, and we will cherish the memories we have made together.

We ask for your understanding during this difficult time, and we hope to find a way to honor Adam’s memory and the legacy of Portobello Café in the future.

Please join us as we celebrate the life of Adam Lener, our beloved restaurant owner, a generous giant with a heart bigger than his stature and whose generosity knew no bounds. This community icon has done so much for so many, and we want to honor his memory by gathering on Thursday, April 20th 7-9pm

His 13-year-old son has expressed his desire to keep his father's legacy alive by continuing to run the neighborhood staple that meant so much to his dad. We want to support this young man and show him that he is not alone in his mission.

We invite you to come and share your memories of our friend, and to raise a glass to his life and all that he accomplished. Let's come together and celebrate the good
times that we shared with him and the impact he had on our community.
