*UPDATE*!! I have heard back from city council. They say they have reached out to the Saturday Market and offered a few alternative locations for us other than on the street—so we will have to wait to hear from the market.

Hello, my friends! Chelsea here. Devin and I have been so looking forward to the beginning of the summer market season and returning to our markets, the Sherwood Saturday Market and the Tigard Farmer's Market.
Unfortunately, at this time, a day before the Saturday market starts, it's looking like the City of Sherwood is not going to allow us to sell.
The Saturday Market is not utilizing the gravel lot this year, so we need to be able to set up on the side of the road next to the sidewalk, like we do at the Tigard Market.
We have been told that this is against city code. As it stands right now, unless the city decides to be helpful, it looks like we will not be able to sell at the Sherwood market at ALL this summer. We used to have a push cart setup, but decommissioned that and pivoted to the trailer fully, so we're unable to roll back.
As a small business, this is devastating. We live all year on our income from the summer, and losing this market means losing almost *half* of our income. I am trying to find another market for Saturdays, but I did not learn about this until yesterday, and it's difficult to find a spot this late into the year.
It is especially difficult to take after what happened last year, when the city kicked us out of the YMCA. We have been a full time vendor at the Saturday market for the past three seasons and have loved and cherished every relationship we've formed with the people there, especially the organizers of the market. They have been in our corner from day one, and we owe a lot to them.
As this is such a blow to our family financially, I would love to welcome and encourage you to come visit us at our spot in front of Kopitos in Newberg--I'm here Tuesday-Friday 8-1, and until we find a Saturday location, I'll be here Saturdays as well.
It's technically possible that we will hear something different from the city in the next few hours or days that will change this and allow us to come enjoy the Saturday Market as we were expecting to do, but I don't expect it. In the case that anything changes, I will post again and update.
Thank you again to all of our customers and friends, and to the organizers of the Sherwood Saturday Market, for all of your support.
