Good Saturday afternoon! Did you move your clocks back one hour last night?

As most of you know, I fell twice in June! First, I broke two vertebrae in my lower back and needed surgery. It happened again when I broke another bone and needed surgery again!

Since then, I’ve been VERY careful and have been staying at Brentwood for rehab. It’s been a few months and they’ve been taking good care of me, where I’ve had a lot of PT.

Well, I’m looking for some help. Since I haven’t left rehab, I need to go home and pick up some things. I need clothes. I’ve been rummaging through extra clothes here, but I also need my warm PJs, and my mail.

I’d need someone to pick me up at Brentwood and drive me home. Then help me into house. I’ll pull out what I need.

THEN I’d need a ride back to Brentwood where I must stay, bringing back items.

The distance between my home and Brentwood is 3.5 miles. Can you help me? I’ll buy dinner!

Dad, promise me you won’t get mad if I tell you something.
— Go ahead, son.
— No, promise first.
— Alright, I promise.

— Today I cried in front of the whole class.
— Oh… why?
— The teacher said my work was wrong. I was so sure I did everything right, but I couldn’t hold it in.
— And you’re afraid I’ll be upset about that?
— Yeah. My classmates said crying is for weaklings.

— Listen to me, buddy. There are two things I want you to remember for the rest of your life.
— I’m listening, Dad.

— First: I’m proud of you.
Crying isn’t weakness — it’s strength. Only people who truly feel can cry. You’ve got a heart that knows how to love, to care, to hurt. And trust me — even your friends have cried before. They just didn’t say it out loud. When a tear falls, don’t be ashamed. It washes away pain and clears the soul.

— And the second thing?
— Second: making mistakes is okay.
We all mess up — Mom, me, everyone. What matters isn’t avoiding mistakes but learning from them. You fall, you get up, you try again. That’s how people grow.

I’d never be mad at you for getting something wrong or for crying. In fact, I’m proud to have a son who isn’t afraid to feel, who isn’t afraid to be human.

Because the ability to cry and the courage to make mistakes — that’s real strength. That’s the kind of courage that lets you truly live.

Lift your head up, kiddo.
Walk through life with your heart wide open. ❤️
