Hello Nikiski. I need to take a moment to address a couple of things. We LOVE that there is a great place for a Friday night hangout in our little community (and it’s one of the only times our little coffeeshop actually makes money!). We think this has been a huge asset to our town and want to keep doing it for years to come. However, things have to change. Friday nights are an open to the public COFFEESHOP time. It is not a Compass youth event. It is not a babysitting service. Nor is it a party rental. It’s a coffeeshop. It is a pretty stinkin’ fun coffeeshop to hang out in. That being said, it is not the job of the baristas to provide security or to monitor the parking lot. It is also not possible for our compass staff of 2.5 people to police this coffeeshop time either. On a weekly basis, I am contacted about issues, find trash/food in the parking lot, food and spills on the pool tables, holes in the walls and other damage to the facility, etc. Unfortunately, the level of disrespect, unruliness, bullying, and trashing of the facility and parking lot has reached a level that requires some changes. We will be shutting down Friday nights for the month of September and will be evaluating what it looks like moving forward. I am open to ideas and solutions but none of which can require much from our tiny already spread thin staff.
