📣 GEORGIA COUNSELORS: KNOW YOUR LICENSE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS!
Understanding Georgia’s licensing rules can help you protect your license and stay compliant.
📅 LICENSE RENEWAL
Georgia LPC, LCSW, LMSW, and LMFT licenses expire on September 30 of even-numbered years.
- Renewal requires a completed application, renewal fee, and proof of required continuing education.
- Renewal reminders are a courtesy—the responsibility to renew rests with the license holder.
⚠️ WHAT IF YOU MISSED THE DEADLINE?
- A late renewal penalty applies during the late renewal period.
- If your license is not renewed by October 31, it is subject to revocation and reinstatement requirements.
- Continuing to practice after October 31 without renewing your license is unlawful and may result in disciplinary action.
🔄 CONSIDERING INACTIVE STATUS?
- Eligible active licensees who do not intend to practice in Georgia may apply for inactive status.
- Inactive status is limited to five years.
- Reactivation requires an application, fee, and proof of 35 continuing education hours completed within the two years before applying.
💡 Stay informed. Stay prepared. Protect your professional license!
