It was great to partner up - so much fun, and community support. Thank you!
For the past 17 years, we have asked for a little support for Bay Wine and Spirits, the Corksmen, and our community. Every year, without fail, you give us so much more—and this year was no different.
What begins as a simple request for help with the End Hunger Dragon Boat Race quickly becomes an incredible outpouring of generosity, friendship, enthusiasm, and community spirit. You show up in every possible way:
raising funds and recruiting friends;
designing and building tents;
creating costumes and decorations;
volunteering, cheering, and paddling; and
making it all look easy while having a great time.
We are continually amazed by the number of people willing to lend a hand and share their time for a cause that matters. Whether you rowed in the boat, worked behind the scenes, donated, recruited friends, or simply showed up to support us, you helped make a meaningful difference in the fight against hunger in our community.
This year, we filled two boats once again. When we first organized two boats, the Tipsy Cup was created so Corksmen I and Corksmen II could battle it out. Although this is the first year the Tipsy Cup will not live on our countertop—we have lent it to The Wheel—we still had so much to celebrate.
Thanks to the incredible number of supporters, we had the chance to brainstorm, design, and bring our tents and costumes to life. Once again, those efforts were recognized with awards for Best Tent and Best Drummer Costumes.
The race itself lasts only a few minutes, but the memories, laughter, teamwork, and impact last so much longer. Watching our customers and friends come together year after year reminds us how blessed we are to be part of something far bigger than a team or a business. We are part of a community that cares.
With Sharon at the helm, and help from Monica (Hook & Vine), the Corksmen raised $10,991.45 (more than any other team this year) to help keep our local pantries filled with food and supplies.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all who want to be called a Corksmen and wear our shirt with pride for helping Bay Wine and Spirits make waves for a great cause. Your kindness, loyalty, and generosity mean more than words can express.
We ask for a little support and receive an overwhelming amount of love in return.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Susan and Sharon
