True North Kitchen + Bar

True North Kitchen + Bar Family run neighborhood restaurant featuring scratch made comfort food with a twist. Craft Cocktails
(477)

True North Kitchen + Bar is a restaurant just like it sounds, a kitchen with a bar. True North Kitchen + Bar opened quietly on September 1, 2017 at 159 Bridge Street in Weymouth, MA. True North is a modern American Tavern that brings urban vibes to the suburbs. Executive Chef Ben Campbell, formerly of No. 9 Park in Boston, delivers delicious and distinctive comfort food made with fresh seasonal in

gredients. Menu items rotate frequently but you can count on a seasonal soup, pasta, seafood, and meat selection always being available. Chef Ben flaunts his creativity by taking traditional tavern food to the next level. Customers highly recommend the chicken pot poutine, fish and shrimp po’ boy tacos, burger with house made “everything spiced” bun, and butternut squash flan. The restaurant offers a full bar with a variety of craft beers on tap and the bottle and a wide selection of wines by the glass. The physical space of True North was previously occupied by Kelly’s Landing for 38 years. The space has been gutted and renovated and now seats 90 people with a 22 seat bar. Inside, the décor matches the modern American food with industrial accents such as iron-welded soffits to store liquor and Edison bulb light fixtures. Seating options include high top bar tables, banquet seating, as well as booths. True North Kitchen + Bar is owned and operated by Janet and Joe Campbell. They were partners in the restaurants that made up the Cohasset Harbor Resort (Atlantica, The Olde Salt House, and Brisa Tapas, and Wine Bar) before they sold their interests in 2016. Prior to joining the Cohasset Harbor Resort team as Managing Partner, Joe was the former Vice President of Operations of Legal Seafoods. Janet owned and operated a dance studio for 16 years before joining Joe in the business. As previously mentioned, their son, Ben, is the Executive Chef and runs the back of the house operations with his friend and colleague from No. 9 Park, Michael Devaney, as his Sous Chef. Their daughter Alyssa helps out with the bookkeeping and marketing, when she’s not working as a Special Education teacher.

Making Lemonade. Just returned from a planned trip for Janet's birthday in Las Vegas. Here is the latest update on our business. I also included another photo I took on the Tram to terminal D at the airport. Jeanne Heroux was right (as usual), the Universe was calling.

Here is the latest update on our licensing problem. The paperwork for license renewal wasn't received at Town Hall on time (my fault). Presently, we don't have a liquor license and the food license is tied to that license. We probably won't have a liquor License until Late February ( No you can't BYOB like so many have asked). We are hoping to be issued a temporary Common Victular license by the town and begin serving food again. At this point, it's in the hands of attorneys and we will wait for the process to take place. Thanks so much for your kind words and wishes over the past week. We will try to make the egift card portal functional on our website. I can also mail out gift cards to those that want to help keep us going. PM me and I'll call you. It feels like 2020 all over again. Ironically, we are headed to Las Vegas for Janet's birthday to see the Eagles at the Sphere and Santana at the House of Blues. All non-refundable! Thinking of visiting Emre in Turkey to get hair replacement, a facelift to lose a couple chins and Ozempic to get back to my HS weight while we are out. You won't recognize me when you come back. My cousin Ron Cook is on the right. Looks like Spicoli!
