Thursday, May 21st is International Tea Day!
Countries all over decided to use this day to recognize the intercultural, historic, and economic significance of humanity's favorite beverage (barely topping Hawaiian Punch.)

Join us at the Tea House to celebrate this day of recognition where tea services will be $1 off.

See you Thursday!

Next time you pop-by the Oak Harbor Library take a look at the display case.
Our tea display honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander cultural heritages has been extended to the end of the month.

Then checkout some books and support the library.
Cheers!

Much gratitude to everyone who made the Cultivating Unique Teas in the PNW event so much fun and engaging.
Thank you to our fantastic inquisitive guests, our surprise guests from WSU, and our host Gavin for bringing his years of experience to this knowledge sharing.

We are encouraged and plan to hold another one later in the year.

Hello Tea Folk,

I've been characteristically absent in posting the past several months, and it's not just because my usual absent mindedness towards social media.
I have another, possibly better reason.

This year I delved into the "what if?" question of branching out into tea business.
About four months ago some things fell into place and I must have been in a good lapse of insanity, so I leased a space.
Between mid-December and beginning of January, The Empty Tea Cup: Tea House will be opening in our home town of Oak Harbor, Washington.

The picture is of our space, about 95% of updates done. First and most important pieces of furniture moved in to start, the tree gongfu table.

Purpose in all of this hubbub is to create an anchored space that continues and builds upon the tea offerings of the last four years.
As I've thought deeply on the purpose of TETC, in both tea service and now tea house forms:
"Foster space that nurtures rest and cultivates exploration in Tea, Self, and Community."

These months have been a lot for someone new to small business and there's so much more to fit into the coming weeks.
Website has been setup as a placeholder while I work on a new one to incorporate all the tea house details.
Big thing to note there is trying to get a newsletter going. This is where I'll send out the majority of updates. Please have a look and signup.

Alrighty, I'm sure that's enough words for now.
Thank you for reading this far.
So much time and so little to do.

Happy International Tea Day!
Sharing this wonderfully made tribute to those around the world that make our drink possible from the beginning.
Thank you, Tea and Herbal Association of Canada for this and your annual Sofa Summit.

Cheers!
