It is with heavy hearts that today we say goodbye and lay Marquita Wright to rest. She was a cherished colleague, a dear friend, and a deeply loved member of the Oakland City community. Her loss is felt profoundly across our campus, and we grieve together with her family and loved ones.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 3:00–6:00 PM, followed by a service at 6:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Randall Blair.
Shuttle Service:
Shuttle transportation will be available from the Student Life Center (SLC) to the funeral home (approximately 3 minutes from campus). The first shuttle will depart at 2:55 PM and will run every 30 minutes. The final shuttle will leave the SLC at 5:30 PM, with return service following the conclusion of the service.

Marquita Wright Obituary:
Marquita Dawn Wright, 49, of Oakland City, Indiana, peacefully passed away at her home on January 26, 2026. She was born on January 10, 1977, in Evansville, Indiana, to Pamela Ellis and Rick Woolsey.
Marquita was a graduate of Pike Central High School. She attended Mackey Nazarene Church in Mackey, Indiana. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and part of the Women’s Auxiliary. She worked at Oakland City University as Director of Student Activities. Marquita loved her family with her whole heart, and she will be deeply missed by those who cared dearly for her.
Marquita is survived by her loving children, Payton and Rose Wright, Alivia Grace Wright, Marleigh Ruth Wright; her parents, Pamela and Buck Ellis, Rick and Debbie Woolsey; her sisters Michelle Woolsey, Yvonne Ellis, and Tonya Mattox.
She is preceded in death by Margaret Woolsey, Kermit Woolsey, Dolores Hoover and William Hoover.
