I, along with my grandchildren, have embarked upon this journey because over the years I have come to learn what a remarkable hospital Boston Children’s is. My granddaughter suffered a brachial plexus injury at birth. She was unable to move her left arm. She’s had countless therapies, adaptive clothing, surgery at Children’s. She is able to raise both arms above her head and is actively playing sports -soccer, skiing, swimming. My grandson was born eight weeks prematurely at York Hospital, weighing in at just over 3 lbs-BC ambulance was waiting in the parking lot. Upon birth, they rushed to his side and prepared to transport him immediately to BC Nicu. At one day old, he had a life-saving surgery because his intestines were twisted. He spent the next six weeks in NICU. A student of mine had a life altering surgery last year. Although the surgery was to be routine, the case became so unique and complicated that when his parents asked the doctors how many times they had encountered this issue and performed this surgery, the doctors didn’t have an answer. They were skilled enough to address the issues and constraints as they materialized. Currently, a family friend, 13-year-old boy is awaiting a heart transplant at Boston Children’s. If you have it in your means to support the miraculous work, they do here, please click on the link and support the efforts of my grandchildren, and I to raise funds supporting the work that these incredible medical professionals do daily.
