Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday!
Carriage House Antiques put together a timeline of historical artifacts that tell some of the story of the founding of North America from as early as 1490 to 1760.
The items on display are original artifacts. They are not for sale. The timeline will be on display until May then will be followed by artifacts through the years 1762 -1820. This is our way of celebrating America’s 250 years of independence. We hope you find time to stop in to enjoy the pieces!

Carriage House Antiques had a surprise visit from “Olga” the first wife of Picasso. Rick Johnston, the “Bearded Painter” and his wife, Cammie brought an original oil painting of Olga that Picasso painted in 1923. The painting has all of its certification on the back from Paris and the Louvre, as well as Picasso’s signature.
We were able to hold the painting as well as touch the canvas. Miss Anna Hudepohl, art teacher at Oldenburg Academy brought a few of her students to the store to experience a once in a lifetime chance to hold an original Picasso.
The painting has an interesting past. During WWII, Olga was taken by the N***s from a Jewish home in Paris, who cut the canvas from the frame. She spent time in hiding until recovered in a salt mine by the American Army. She then spent 70 years in a safe of the original owners until bought by a private owner and then willed to Rick and Cammie. Rick was kind enough to bring her to the store to share with us.
Learn more about the “Bearded Painter” who he is as an artist and how and why he was gifted, “Olga” from his page.

What a wonderful year at the store! We made new friends, some who discovered Sister Cleo’s Homemade Ice Cream, and some who found just the right antique gift. We enjoyed keeping up with friends who regularly stop in for an ice cream treat, peruse through some “new” book finds, or hope to spend some time to chat with Sister Cleo.
Thank you, thank you! We will take the month of January to sadly pack up Christmas for another year and will reopen on Tuesday, February 3rd at noon. Looking forward to 2026 and sharing some new ice cream flavors! We are also looking forward to celebrating the opening of the StoneHaus, happy to have another merchant in the Village, and the opening of the Oldenburg Museum.
