Serving up bold flavors & big community love through fundraisers, giveback nights & all-around good vibes in Olive Branch. **Mississippi-born and Memphis-raised**, Chef Jonathan Mah has been in the kitchen for as long as he can remember. Before he could even drive, he was manning the grill in his fatherā€™s steakhouse. By the time he could vote, he was sharpening his skills at two of Memphisā€™ finest

dining establishments ā€” Kotoā€™s and Erling Jensenā€™s. While studying Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Tennesseeā€“Knoxville, he gained valuable experience at Chateau Ɖlan Winery and Resort in Georgia. He later stepped into the corporate world as General Manager for Chiliā€™s in North Georgia before returning home in 2011 as Executive Sous Chef at Alchemy in the Cooper-Young district. In 2012, Chef Mah opened **SideStreet Burgers**, now celebrating **13 years** of serving the Mid-South. The restaurant has been featured in numerous publications across the greater Memphis area. He actively gives back to the community, participating as a guest chef with **Monogram Foods** to raise money for special needs organizations, and hosting **Give Back Nights** to support local schools and sports teams. Seven years ago, after the success of Mississippi Ale House, Chef Mah expanded his culinary vision by opening **OB Pizza Co.**, bringing another flavorful dining option to Olive Branch. From fine dining to neighborhood favorites, Chef Mah blends professional technique with a deep love for his community ā€” and heā€™s always ready to welcome guests like family.

We never made a post regarding and the sale of Mississippi Ale House and Brew Pub but thereā€™s honestly so much to say in such a short post.

First and foremost, we are beyond appreciative of Derric and the incredible work heā€™s done with Mississippi Ale House over the years. He has supported us relentlessly from day one ā€” and still continues to do so. Derric has been a huge part of the success of SidestreetBurgers, and there truly arenā€™t enough words to express our gratitude for everything heā€™s done for us, our team, and this community. We wish him nothing but the absolute best in this next chapter.

Weā€™ve also had the opportunity to meet with Matthew Kelso, the new owner of Mississippi Ale House, and weā€™re excited for whatā€™s to come. Weā€™re continuing to push ourselves to be even better for our customers, and we have a lot of exciting new initiatives planned for the coming year.

Most importantly, thank you to all of our customers and supporters who have stood by us through the years. May 12, 2026 marked 14 years of SidestreetBurgers. Life got busy, and we didnā€™t have the big celebration we originally hoped for, but that doesnā€™t lessen our appreciation one bit.

And personally, none of this would be possible without my number one supporter ā€” my wife ā€” and our growing family. Through the long days, late nights, challenges, and victories, theyā€™ve been the foundation behind everything we do.
