Saturday Nights at Doc’s — A Little Prime Rib, a Little Baseball, and a Lot of Wisconsin Tradition.
There’s something about a Saturday evening in Wisconsin.
The sun starts to set, the weekend is in full swing, and you’ve decided tonight isn’t a night for cooking at home.
Tonight, you’re treating yourself.
You walk through the doors at Doc’s Place Supper Club, and there’s a familiar warmth waiting for you.
Behind the bar, Logan and Steve are busy muddling cherries and oranges, crafting those classic Wisconsin Old Fashioneds that make a supper club feel like home.
The sound of ice hitting the glasses, the laughter from familiar faces, and the aroma of dinner drifting from the kitchen tell you it’s going to be a good night.
And tonight, there’s a little extra excitement.
It’s Game 2 of the World Series, and the Milwaukee Brewers are playing on the big screens in the bar!
You pull up a stool, order your favorite Old Fashioned, and catch a little baseball before heading to your table.
Then you smell it.
That unmistakable aroma of slow-roasted prime rib coming from the kitchen.
Suddenly, dinner can’t come soon enough.
You’re shown to your table, your server hands you a menu, and it’s time for that wonderful Saturday night decision.
Tonight’s Featured Prime Rib — $39 prime rib and three shrimp.
Slow-roasted prime rib, prepared with the care and tradition you’d expect from a Wisconsin supper club.
But first, another decision.
Will it be our rich, baked French onion soup, topped with melted cheese?
Maybe a warm bowl of clam chowder sounds better on a cool Wisconsin evening.
Or perhaps you’d prefer fresh mixed greens or a classic Caesar salad.
Then come the warm dinner rolls, served with our thyme butter.
You tear one open, spread on a little butter, and realize you’ve already made a pretty good decision coming to Doc’s tonight.
But wait.
What if you’re in the mood for steak instead?
Our filet is always a wonderful choice. Or maybe tonight calls for a juicy sirloin or a New York strip.
And since it’s Saturday night, why not make it something special?
Add some jumbo scallops or shrimp to your steak.
Maybe a generous helping of sautéed mushrooms, too.
After all, Saturday nights are made for enjoying yourself.
Just as dinner arrives, you spot Logan or Steve heading toward your table with that second Old Fashioned.
Perfect timing.
From the bar comes a sudden burst of applause.
Someone at the next table looks up and asks, “Did the Brewers score?”
A few smiles, a little laughter, and suddenly it feels like everyone in the restaurant is sharing the same Saturday night.
The prime rib is carved, the steaks are being enjoyed, the glasses are raised, and nobody seems to be in much of a hurry.
Before you know it, the plates are cleared and your server asks that familiar question.
“Did we save any room for dessert?”
Maybe a slice of apple pie?
A warm cookie à la mode?
Or perhaps there’s just enough room for one more supper club tradition.
A Brandy Alexander or a Grasshopper.
You finish your evening enjoying the game, sharing another story, and wondering where the time went.
Because Saturday nights at Doc’s aren’t just about a great cut of beef or a perfectly muddled Old Fashioned.
They’re about tradition.
They’re about taking your time.
They’re about familiar faces, good food, and the people who make an ordinary Saturday feel like something special.
Prime rib. Steaks. Old Fashioneds made by Logan and Steve. Brewers baseball.
Just another Saturday night at Doc’s.
