Dear Customers,
It’s hard to believe that we had our soft opening 7 years ago at Car Show in 2010. So many great memories were formed over these past years and we regret not being able to take part in this year’s event.

Here’s an update as to why we’re not around right now:
Since a fire in July 2016, we have remained closed for business. The fire was relatively small and was (thankfully) contained to the basement by the expert decision making of our Ottawa fire department. However, the fire caused significant damage to the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems in the building as well as significant smoke damage throughout the restaurant.
Our insurance company, Nationwide, has forced us into federal court to fight their decision to deny our insurance claim for the fire and smoke damage. We have already been waiting for nearly 14 months and have been told not to expect a result any time soon.
Until the litigation is completed, we are financially unable to proceed with the restoration process and try to reopen.

Even though we aren’t currently open for business – we’ll still be around this weekend to check out all excitement. Be sure to stop us and say hello.

We've had a lot of questions about what's happening at the bakery. Share this post to spread the word!

So, here's what we know:

1) The fire happened in the basement and was contained to the basement through the efforts of the Ottawa Fire Department (THANK YOU!!!) The fire cause was not determined and it remains unknown due to the extent of the fire damage.

2) We suffered severe smoke damage throughout the building (including impact on neighboring businesses Exclusive 3rd St Spa Little Critters). The smoke damage, as told to us by several companies involved in restoration, has caused a total loss of all business contents. This includes not only all food goods but also all of our equipment, office equipment, supplies, seating areas, walls, ceiling, etc.

3) We have not yet been cleared by insurance to have crews in to begin work on the content removal and restoration. So, all our equipment and non-food contents remain in the building.

4) We plan to reopen when we rebuild! At this time we don't have a firm estimate of when that we be. We have been told a range of 6-8 months to over a year based on when insurance finalizes their paperwork and approvals.

We are anxiously waiting to get going just as much as you are!
