The Renaissance Faire got rained out this afternoon, so stop by the front porch bakestand, at 176 Shady Lane in Oviedo, to pick up some Renaissance/Medieval themed treats! Honey and Ale Whole Wheat Brown Bread (from fresh milled wheat including Einkorn), 15th Century Russian Pastila (made from apples, a cross between marshmallow and cake), 14th Century Gingerbread (a spicy, honey and breadcrumb based confection), Marchpane (Almond and Rosewater cookie), Spiced Nuts, Springerle (German Anise flavored cookies), and Hais (middle Eastern traveler's bites from dates, nuts, and breadcrumbs).

The countdown is on for the Enchanted Knights: Summer Solstice Renaissance Festival (by Wizards and Lizards) happening in Downtown Sanford on Saturday, June 20, from 11 AM to 6 PM!
Here is a little sneak peek of the period baked goods I’ll be bringing to the faire:
-14th Century Spiced Gingerbread: Made with Wildflower Honey, Ginger, and Long Pepper
-15th Century Russian Pastila: preserved fruit in cloud-like texture
-German Springerle Cookies: old-world warmth of licorice-like anise cookies
-Fresh-milled Honey and Ale Brown Bread: Slow-fermented and rustic
-"Hais" Fruit and Nut Traveler's Bites: Packed with dried dates, almonds, and pistachios
- Marchpane: the Queen of sweetmeats, a fragrant, regal blend of ground almonds, sugar, and rosewater
Come trade your gold, grab some sweet treats, and explore the enchanting streets of Sanford!
