I can’t possibly count the number of times people have exclaimed “I don’t know how you do it!” in reference to keeping this little sandwich ship afloat and thriving. The answer?
This guy.
The quiet, often unseen, other half of Bodega’s ownership. The one who has single handedly brought our technology into the 21st century, despite all of my protests. The one who has spent countless hours on YouTube figuring out how to fix coolers, ice machines, floor buffers, cash registers, and coffee machines so everything continues running here. The one who shakes his head and pretends not to see when I climb on everything except a step stool to reach the high shelves. The one who always shows up to conquer a mountain of dishes in the sink when I call, desperate and weary from an exhausting grad weekend.
Ten years ago, when I said “I Do”, I knew I was getting a husband, but I never would’ve dreamed I was also beginning life with my business partner too.
Owning a business with your spouse is no walk in the park. It’s stretched and strengthened us in ways we never could’ve predicted. At the end of the day- there’s no one I’d rather captain this ship with.
