Did you know that before I opened Sauced 5 years ago, I was working for
The City in City Planning? I have a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Villanova University. I was halfway through my doctoral program when my son wanted to go on a mission trip to El Salvador….and we didn’t know how to come up with funds for it….

To raise funds I started selling my salsa to my co-workers…Mama Dee taught me how to make it. 🥰 I sold $700 in a day! Whoa! That was over half of what he needed to be able to go!

I went to work the next day and was writing reports for Zoning Board of Appeals (yes it’s just as boring as it sounds 😜) and God revealed He had a different plan for me.

In that moment I contacted Hy-Vee and was able to speak to the director who set up a tasting….long story short, they said it was the best salsa they had ever had and wanted it in the stores. So in six months, I QUIT working for the City and our salsa was in 13 of 14 local Hy-Vee’s. 🙌🏼🙏

Hi everyone! Tomorrow is the big day…brain surgery… I’ve spent the last several months dealing with the daily issues that come with living with extra pressure in my head. I found myself sitting abundantly in fear, worry, and anxiety. I spent days, possibly weeks, swimming through every possible outcome in a sea of negative “what if” thoughts. “What if I don’t wake up the same?” “What if it’s the last time I see my family?” “What if….what if…. What IF.” It’s a wild situation to be in….and in all honesty…I was scared and those of you that know me, know that’s a hard admission for me….yet, today I sit here…with a peace that surpasses my own understanding. I’m ready. I love how God meets you right where you are when you seek Him. 🙏🙌🏼

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬ ….and He has indeed.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. I abandoned worry and replaced it with TRUST. I abandoned fear and replaced it CONFIDENCE. I abandoned anxiety and replaced it with HOPE. I didn’t do that alone…we aren’t meant too. God met me as I am, right where I was, in the pit….and transformed my entire outlook and attitude. He will do the same for you too. If any of you are going through anything and are in need of prayer, let me know. I’ll have some time on my hands in the upcoming weeks and I’d love to pray for you.

Thank you to all of you, that have been praying for me, sending me messages, checking on me at the kitchen. The hugs, the kindness, the compassion…you’re sending me into the operating room with a full heart. Thank you just doesn’t seem like enough.

Please know my husband and team are ready to rock and roll during my absence. I have been immensely blessed with an amazing team of hard working, dedicated individuals, that will continue to uphold Sauced in my absence. So please, continue to support us and let us feed you, and when I return, be ready, because in true Alfaro fashion, we have big plans!
