I’m probably never going to be a skinny man, especially with talented people like this opening more places to feed me.

We want to send a huge congratulations to Ben and Amy at Benny and Babes on the purchase of their new location, the former Rubin’s Deli here in Parkersburg!

Watching good people take a big chance, chase a dream, and continue investing in our community is always something worth celebrating. We know how much hard work, stress, love, and probably a few sleepless nights go into making a move like this.

We cannot wait to see what incredible culinary concoctions Ben cooks up in this new space. Parkersburg is lucky to have passionate local business owners continuing to grow, create, and give people even more reasons to eat locally.

Congratulations, Ben and Amy! We are rooting for you, supporting you, and preparing our stretchy pants accordingly.

The air might be toxic to breathe, it’s about 85° inside while the AC fights for its life, and our main three door cooler apparently chose today to begin its journey toward the afterlife.

But look at this brand new fryer for the food truck!

At this point, we are celebrating every victory we can get, even if we have to celebrate it while sweating our avocados off and listening for the next piece of equipment to make a suspicious noise.

Restaurant ownership is really just putting out fires, sometimes literally, while buying newer and more expensive things that can eventually break too.

Still, this is a win, and today we are taking it.

New fryer, better food, hotter kitchen, questionable air quality, unstoppable crew.

Guys, it has been a rough week, and we are very sorry we have been so quiet.

There has been a lot of loss surrounding the people inside these four walls of our little taco shop. I think all of us are feeling a little mentally exhausted, emotionally drained, and simply trying to find our footing again.

So today, I just want to remind you to tell the people you care about that you love them. Make the phone call. Send the message. Give the hug. Sit a little longer at the table.

Life is incredibly finite, but we spend so much of it saying, “There is always tomorrow.”

And to that, I ask, who told you that?

Make the time. Take the trip. Do the things that scare you. Laugh too loudly, love people fiercely, and make memories with the ones who make this life worth living. The work, the errands, and the endless list of things that need done will still be there. The people we love may not always be.

Hold your people a little closer today. Be gentle with one another, and never assume you will get another chance to say what is in your heart.

“Your body is not a temple, it is an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.”

Listen... this isn't a bragging post.

If anything, it's a thank you.

The only reason we're ever able to help out is because you all keep showing up for us. You come eat with us, laugh with us, support us, and somehow keep this crazy dream rolling. So anytime we're able to give something back, just know it's really coming from this entire community. We're just lucky enough to be the ones delivering it.

Because of all of you, we were able to help provide lunch for the incredible volunteers at the Lubeck Fire Department while they're out there protecting our neighbors. That meal wasn't from Jimmy Avocado's, it was from every single person who's ever chosen to support us.

Life gets rough. Business gets rough. Sometimes it gets really rough. But knowing I get to live and work in a community that refuses to stop showing up for one another makes all the difference in the world. That's something pretty special, and it's something I'll never take for granted.

As long as these four walls are standing, and as long as I'm driving my questionably attractive old bus around slinging tacos (she ain't winning any beauty contests, but she still gets us where we need to go 😅), I'm going to keep doing my best to be an asset to this community. My goal has never just been to serve food. It's been to bring people together over a meal, share some laughs, and hopefully leave this little corner of the world just a little better than we found it.

From the bottom of my heart... thank you. I could spend the rest of my life trying to thank every single one of you, and I'd still come up short.

I love each and every one of you more than you'll probably ever know.

DO GOOD RECKLESSLY.

Much love,
Jimmy

If you're able and would like to help, there are a couple of great ways to support the incredible firefighters working the People's Cartage fire.

🚒 The Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department is accepting donations of snacks, drinks, electrolytes, and other requested supplies for the crews.

🛒 Kroger is also accepting donations and will be making another pickup in the morning.

We were able to send some water their way today, and we hope it helps, even if it's just a little.

If you're in a position to donate, every bottle of water, every snack, and every kind gesture makes a difference. Please don't head to the fire scene itself, though. The best way to help is by supporting the organized donation efforts and allowing emergency crews the space they need to do their jobs safely.

And if donating isn't possible, that's okay too. A few words of encouragement, your thoughts, and showing appreciation for these firefighters and first responders go a long way.

Let's show these heroes just how much this community stands behind them. ❤️🚒

Today there are a whole lot of firefighters from across the Mid Ohio Valley working together to help suppress the ongoing fire at People's Cartage.

Please keep every one of them in your thoughts today. These men and women are out there in the heat, the smoke, and the danger so the rest of us can stay safe. They leave their families not knowing what the day will bring, and they do it without hesitation.

To every firefighter, first responder, and everyone supporting this effort, thank you. Your courage, sacrifice, and dedication to this community never go unnoticed. We're all rooting for you, and we're hoping for nothing short of everyone making it home safely to the people who love them.

The Jimmy Avocado's family is sending nothing but love, appreciation, and support to every crew on scene. Stay safe out there. ❤️

🌮 Today's game plan has officially been overruled by the weather. 🥵

We were planning to pop over to Bicentennial Park today, but after looking at the forecast, the heat index, and remembering that working inside an 18' x 7' metal box basically turns the truck into a lightly seasoned air fryer... we're calling an audible.

As much as we love slinging tacos, I love my crew a whole lot more. No burrito is worth someone ending up with heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

So today we're staying parked where the A/C at least has a fighting chance, hydrating, and pretending the sun isn't trying to settle an old grudge.

The good news? It looks like temperatures are going to back off a little this weekend, so you'll definitely catch us at the 4th of July Celebration! 🇺🇸🌮

Thanks for understanding, and as always, take care of yourselves, drink plenty of water, check on your neighbors, and if you absolutely have to fry something today... let it be tacos, not yourself.

DO GOOD RECKLESSLY. ❤️

Sooooo... turns out I'm an idiot. 😂

I bought a picnic table from Southside Lowe's... and then realized I don't actually own anything capable of bringing it back to the restaurant.

So, I'm looking for a friend with a truck and a little spare time tomorrow! I'll happily pay you for the help, and I'll make sure you leave with a full belly too. 🌮

If you've got a truck and don't mind rescuing me from my own lack of planning, shoot me a message. I promise I'm only occasionally this professionally organized.

As always... DO GOOD RECKLESSLY. ❤️

Go forth, swim, cool off, and make some memories! ☀️🌊💦

Whether you're cannonballing into the deep end, floating around pretending you don't have responsibilities, or just trying to survive this West Virginia heat without melting into the sidewalk, we hope you have an awesome day!

Stay safe, stay hydrated, wear your sunscreen, and enjoy every second of it. Life's too short to spend it overheating when there's water nearby.

As always... Do Good Recklessly. ❤️🌮

🔥 Tomorrow's forecast is once again: "Why does the air hurt?"

At this point, I'm pretty sure the sun has a personal vendetta against West Virginia. If you hear someone say, "At least it's a dry heat," they're probably hallucinating.

So we're going to do a little something to help.

We've purchased 25 day passes to the Parkersburg City Park Pool for kids ages 3–17! 🏊💙

They're first come, first served, so if your family could use one, grab one! No questions, no judgment. We'd much rather see kids making cannonballs than slowly melting into the sidewalk like a forgotten popsicle.

If you don't need one, share this with someone who does. A little kindness goes a long way, especially when the weather feels like Satan forgot to shut the oven door.

Drink plenty of water, check on your neighbors, make sure your pets have shade, and if you can fry an egg on your hood... maybe don't test it. Groceries are expensive enough.

DO GOOD RECKLESSLY.

Much love,
Jimmy ❤️
