It’s disturbing. Mostly because the person lives in Nevada, has never been in Lunchette, and is literally doing this to hurt our small business because he doesn’t agree with our politics. It’s disturbing because we work so hard to make this community better for everyone, and we have a staff of people we employ to do this. Google doesn’t check any facts like the big one: did this person even dine at said location? He did not. But this type of hate has real world consequences for a small business. That is why I’m posting this - not because we are going to stop what we do or how we do it, nor to shame this person (who is anonymous btw.) There’s no point in trying to engage someone who hides behind a screen name in actual conversation - but on this point: we can disagree and still treat one another with respect, even love. We have to relearn the art of disagreement, and not turn everything into an all or nothing game. So to anonymous reviewer: agree to disagree. Peace.

Welcome!

New Menu Stuff:

*Winter Squash!
It's gonna be a long wet winter, and we are ready for it! It starts with the squash: Delicata going on the Seasonal Salad and Polenta Bowl starting next week, Kabocha pureed with leeks and guajillo chilies for one of our most favored soups.

P.S. This week we'll still have Roasted Heirloom Tomato and Leek soup, as well as our Green Vegetable, both in the cold case.

Pop-Up with Hei Ma

Politics. 🗳️⬇️ (in Petaluma and beyond in the comments!!)

People come into Lunchette everyday and ask me why I’m voting for kevin mcdonnell, if I’m happy with what he’s accomplished. They then tell me what they’re unhappy with. One friend said she hates the slow streets and bike lanes. One friend said his agenda isn’t forward thinking enough. I hear you, friends.

And here’s what I reply: you don’t have to like or love everything that he’s been able to accomplish or that’s on his agenda (or NOT on his agenda). What you do have to do is recognize 1) what he has accomplished and 2) that YOUR needs are not representative of the entire community’s needs. Thus I ask back, have you looked at how safe streets are beneficial to a community? Have you considered a car-free future, or at the very least, a car-less future, where biking and walking increase in popularity? Have you ever considered the other populations of petaluma who don’t own cars and need to get around, and must bike or at the very least (because of this current City Manager and Council) can now use the free municipal buses and LumaGo to do so?

More importantly, have you seen how Kevin McDonnell for Petaluma Mayor has shown up to every community and municipal event to listen and learn?

I believe he got to be such a good listener and collaborator because he started on municipal committees like the Bike and Ped, and Planning Commission, as did Janice Cader Thomson, Brent Newell and Brian Barnacle, by the way. To really learn how a city operates, it’s incredibly helpful to start on a committee, and not just try to jump into a leadership role when you have zero experience. I’m all for people running for office! Especially young people! That being said, start by attending community events? Graduate to volunteering on a committee? and THEN run for City Council where you can really learn how to legislate, working with the City Attorney and City Manager? After you gain all that incredibly relevant experience, consider if the community could use your experience and passion for governing, and then, only then, run for Mayor.
