Going from the post master’s office to a blank space waiting to serve a new purpose, here is a before and after of The Roast Office from the beginning to the end. While people are what makes “a place” and not a building, we’ll always cherish the ones made in this building. It was an honor to serve the village, our regulars and anyone else passing through. A Message from The Roast Office

We’ve loved serving this community, and we’re heartbroken to share that our time at The Outpost has come to an end. While we had hoped to handle this privately, recent events have brought us to this moment.

We’ve been so grateful for all the visits, kind words, and support as we prepare to say goodbye to our space. One especially meaningful moment came when a longtime friend from the Pinehurst Police Department stopped by with something special for Carol.

In thanks for the years of warmth, coffee, and community, they presented her with a department challenge coin—along with the Chief’s Award Coin, a rare honor typically reserved for officers who’ve made a lasting impact.

We’re incredibly touched. Thank you to the Pinehurst PD and everyone who has made this place feel like more than just a coffee shop. ❤️

First and foremost, Wow! It is so fantastic to see all the heartfelt sentiments to Carol, her team and The Roast Office. It is certainly apparent that The Roast Office belongs to this community. Sorry it has taken us some time to comment.

We are working diligently with the foundation to renew the lease for the Roast Office to remain at the Outpost. Obviously, it is a delicate situation, and we have been advised to let the process unfold. We hope the board takes into consideration all of your great comments about The Outpost and the Roast Office and can see their way to allowing us to operate our coffee shop.

On a final note: Carol and I met with our 20 plus young adults that work for the Roast office, all of them had smiles, all of them love Carol, and love their jobs and asked great questions! They so want the Roast Office to exist …. One young lady stated “I grew up coming here” 🥰

We will update the community when more information is available.
