Sandhills Woman's Exchange

Sandhills Woman's Exchange Non-Profit Lunchroom and Artisan Based Gift Shop Our front room of the cabin was built circa 1823 at Ray's Grist Mill, 2 miles NE of Pinehurst.

Soon after the Civil War, it was bought by the Archibald Mckenzie family, and used as a kitchen for many years. Light at nighttime was provided by burning pitch pine sticks. The holes where these sticks were placed are still visible in the logs today.

Co-Presidents Faith and Marie gave highlights of our year followed by Kirt Adkins and Charlie McGougan who discussed the upcoming "Raising The Cabin" project for 2027. Then Beth Stevens and Lynda Acker gave a preview of this fall's 'Flutterby Festival' of Monarch butterflys.

We had a full cabin today at our Lunch and Learn with Dolores Muller about attracting Hummingbirds. Dolores was very informative and full of great suggests about how to attract the hummers and what to feed them. She even brought a nest for us to see!

Thank you for sharing! We love our cabin, our history and our legacy ❤️
