Novels & Nibbles takes us on a literary journey to Mexico where a married couple’s fascination with food becomes intertwined with desire, ancient Aztec rituals and a few unsettling questions about cannibalism (Hmmm). In this beautifully written and, obviously, thought provoking story, food is more than nourishment. It awakens memory, desire and culture.

To bring the story to life, we have prepared Guajolote de Mole Pablano. Turkey slow-braised, gently shredded, and folded into a mole of extraordinary depth. Three chilies mingle with tomatoes, almonds, raisins, onions, and garlic while cinnamon, anise, coriander, cumin, cloves, and toasted sesame seeds weave together in layers that reveal themselves one taste at time. At the very end, fine Mexican chocolate melts into the sauce to deepen its mystery. All of this is served alongside warmly spiced black beans crowned with cotija cheese and accompanied by soft, warm corn tortillas.
