May ended with a lot more than we expected.
Over Memorial Day weekend, our community lost someone deeply loved. Many of us are still carrying that grief.
Less than 72 hours later, Woodstock Café was robbed.
They didn’t just take electronics. They took the tools we use to operate and communicate with our community: our iPad, laptops, petty cash, inventory, and even pastries from the case.
As a Deaf and disability-operated café, those tools aren’t luxuries. They’re part of how we serve our customers every day.
We’re sharing this because many of you have asked how we’re doing.
The honest answer? We’re still standing.
Cymaspace is currently navigating a leadership transition while working toward long-term stability. Several grants have been approved, but grant funding takes time to arrive. Until then, our strongest lifeline continues to be community support.
Every donation. Every shirt. Every tote. Every bag of coffee. Every volunteer hour. Every customer who chooses to spend their dollars with us.
After everything we’ve faced this year, we’ve reached one conclusion:
We’re not interested in shrinking.
We’re interested in growing.
Our goal remains the same: creating more opportunities, access, culture, and community for Deaf, disabled, and marginalized people.
If you’d like to help:
🤟 Donate through our Zeffy campaign.
🤟 Grab some merch.
🤟 Send a shirt or tote to an ASL friend.
🤟 Share our posts and tell people why this place matters.
The helper needs a little help right now.
Not because we’re giving up.
Because we’re getting ready for what comes next.
To everyone who has supported us, believed in us, and stood beside us through every challenge:
Thank you.
We’re still here. And we’re not done yet.
