This is a long one but please bare with me
I’m going to start this of with saying if you don’t like what I have to say in this post you can remove yourself from our page!!
Today I delt with some of the worst racism I personally have come across in a long time!!
I’M HERE TO LET IT BE KNOWN THAT WE DONT OPERATE LIKE THAT AROUND HERE AND WE DEFINITELY DON’T TEACH OUR CHILD TO TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY WE WERE TREATED TODAY!!!
If you’re a friend on our page you should know that my husband Jae Jack and I, Mary Jackson are a MIXED couple raising MIXED kids. RACISM DOES NOT EXCIST IN OUR HOUSE!!
People have know clue what other people are going thru and what their finances are so to judge them based on what you THINK is wrong and then to throw in the color of the persons skin as another reason is beyond me!!
PDX crazy Cravings has done a lot for many different people over the 3 years we were in business from school supply drives, final last wishes, raising money for Diabetes awareness, donating Christmas trees to families that couldn’t afford, feeding families at events free of charge, and the list goes on. Never once did we say you had to be a specific color to receive!!! EVERYONE should be loved and treated equally, but unfortunately that’s not the world we live in!!!
Onto what happened today…
Since we closed the food truck our finances are not what they use to be. The money coming in is going to rent, bills, food and daily life necessities so this Christmas will be VERY different for our family but I didn’t want our little ones to NOT have gifts so I reached out to a couple agencies for help and I am now regretting it!!
I showed up with two of the three little kids to pick up gifts today at the scheduled/registered time but was told that since I am WHITE that I was NOT WELCOME in THEIR building!!! She told me that I would have to wait outside while my kids went inside by themselves. She was not saying this privately she was announcing it to Everyone in line including the little kids that were standing there not understanding why they couldn’t go get toys like the other kids. I thankfully had my oldest daughter who is also Mixed with me but the only way she was allowed to enter the building was if she would tell the lady she was Black. She would not let her in if she was MIXED RACE EITHER!! Once she was inside she was told she couldn’t get a gift for her little brother because he was not there and since her mom was WHITE that they would not be able to get any food or household help!! NOWHERE on their flyer nor registration page did it say KIDS HAD TO BE PRESENT TO GET A GIFT and that if your a mixed race family that you weren’t welcome!! Some of you are going to say it does say for Black Families and Youth and your correct which My family meets both requirements!! My kids and husband are all Black and to have someone treat and speak to my kids they way she did was completely uncalled for and her agency shouldn’t get the support it is getting!! I wonder if the people and agencies that donated the toys, food and household supplies know how racist this woman is?? Mind you EVERY table inside the building had a WHITE person behind it wearing shirts that said Make Racism Wrong Again! Everyone EXCEPT the RACIST LADY at the door who said she is the person in charge had one of these shirts on..SO SAD😡
Normally I would be so grateful and appreciative but not this time!! I am FURIOUS!!! But, I will take today’s experience as an opportunity to teach my kids how NOT to treat others!! Racism is a Very nasty, ugly behavior and regardless of how that lady treated us WE are ALL beautiful people regardless of the color of OUR skin!!!
If your one of the people or businesses that donated to Equitable Giving Circle I hope your not part of this ugly behavior and you stop supporting people that are spreading this kind of energy in our community!!!
To the lady that operates www.equitablegivingcircle.org you should be ashamed of your behavior!!!
