Trial Opening Monday June 22nd!
Following Multnomah County's commencement of Phase1 today, Smay Cafe will have a trial opening Mon - Fri of next week, 8am-2pm. This will allow me to assess the building's occupancy, implement safety protocols and gage the returning demand for Smay Cafe foods and beverages.
Phase1 Rules, Bfast All Day and On Line Orders!
The Following Steps Will Be Taken In Compliance With Phase1
Governor Brown’s latest executive order outlines a plan to re-open the economy in phases. It encourages businesses to reopen carefully, and to continue healthy practices to stay safe. In this light Smay Cafe will:
i) Maintain physical distancing measures for employees and customers.
ii) Require employees to wear face coverings unless an accommodation for people with disabilities or other exemption applies.
iii) Ensure tables are spaced at least six (6) feet apart so that at least six (6) feet between parties is maintained, including when customers approach or leave tables. Tables will be sanitized after each customer's usage.
iv) We'll limit parties to 10 people or fewer (though I don't expect this will be an issue as Harrison Sq occupancy is likely to be initially low).
v) I encourage all customers to take proven precautions of wearing a mask, sanitizing their hands before eating and maintaining the advised 6' social distancing separation between yourself and other customers.
vi) All beverages must be filled by myself/employee. I will not be providing self-service beverages or customer refills.
vii) I must provide you single-use items like napkins and condiments directly: these items will no longer be on offer in the self-service area.
viii) I will provide individually wrapped activated carbon masks and small bottles of sanitizer for sale at the register.

Breakfast All Day
My breakfast sandwiches proved increasingly popular prior to the shutdown, so I will now offer these as an all-day item rather than stopping at 10am.
Pre-Order On Line
I'm working on setting up a pre-order service via our POS provider SQUARE: this will allow you to expedite your order and reduce your wait time at the counter. I'll make another announcement when this is up and running.
