!!! CLOSING ANNOUNCEMENT !!!
King Burrito is OUT OF BUSINESS!
Closed down 6-8-2024!
I thank everybody for your loyalty and support over the years. I am sad to say goodbye to my customers but King Burritos is closing down today.
It was a difficult decision to make. I appreciate all of you individually for your continued support over the years. And I hope that you were impacted in some positive way by my contributions to the community.
Remember, King Burrito was started by Jose Alvarez. He owned and operated a restaurant in the 1980s down in Selwood. After closing his restaurant he decided to bring his burritos business to the greater Portland area . So he opened up a mobile restaurant, a food truck. He owned and operated the first food cart in Portland, Oregon located in the downtown district for 10 or 15 years. Then he moved his truck over on North Mississippi Avenue at the corner of N. Failing Street and did business there for several years. He finally found a permanent place at the corner of N. Fremont and N. Mississippi Avenue in the food court there in 2014/15.
Jose Alvarez passed away in 2017 and the business was taken over by his wife Henriquetta who passed in 2022 or 2021. After she passed the King Burrito food cart was taken over by her son, Miguel who was the last person operating it until he decided to close it permanently this summer of 2024.
Thank ALL of you who ate at King Burrito’s over the years. God Bless
Muchas Gracias!
