"A mixture of Italian and English seem to be spoken at every opportunity when you enter the shop. Just as in Italy, part of the experience is the joy of the conversation and the process of choosing the flavors you want to mix. In Italy you will typically find gelato is served with two flavors, regardless of the size of the portions, and Sandro has kept that tradition at his shop in Portland. Individually the flavors are relatively simple, yet there is a distinct art to pairing the flavors in order to bring out different aspects, similar to the concept of food and wine pairings. Sandro acts as the gelato-tender, finding what’s just right for each customer."

"Serving sizes are generous. Paolini's fior di latte (plain) gelato is fresh and sweet, like good mozzarella. The pistachio has the bite of really good baklava. The chocolate is rich and bitter. As good as the gelato is, though, I'm more impressed by Pinolo's dairy-free sorbetto, which has none of the iciness of most local sorbets, shining shockingly bright with fruit flavor. Paolini is really embracing seasonal fruits here, so selection varies a lot. On a recent evening the peach tasted like fresh fruit puree and the strawberry like a handful of fresh-picked fruit on a sunny morning."

The Downtown Plaza honoring Portland iconic drag queen Darcelle XV breaks ground celebrating Portland’s Pride Weekend and was there!!

On Saturday, the city of Portland started construction on the site that’s expected to open next summer. With plans of being an honorary place for the city’s iconic drag queen, Darcelle XV, whose showplace is the longest-running drag cabaret on the West Coast. While also creating a green space to attract more people downtown.

We’re on the hunt for a gelato enthusiast to join our team as a SHIFT LEAD.

Are you outgoing? Are you obsessed with customer service and team work? Do you thrive in a fast paced work environment?

We are looking for a team member to represent the Pinolo’s spirit while scooping our gelato and leading our team! Our team members are dedicated, passionate and focused on superb customer service.

Our Shift Lead must be able to work 25-30 hours during varied shifts. You must be able to work at a fast pace, think outside the box and make it look effortless. A strong wrist helps!

Valentine Special Flavor - Bacio Bianco! A decadent chocolate “cremino” gelato starting with a layer of dark chocolate gelato, covered in white chocolate ganache, then topped with gianduia and covered in a final layer of more white chocolate ganache.

Cremino is a term for a chocolate bite in Northern Italy that is layers of different chocolates. Bacio Bianco is our special Valentine gelato version!
