Yesterday was something else.

For 9 straight hours Portland showed up in a big way!
Line out the door all day long!

I am so grateful to everyone who came by to say goodbye!!
So many past employees, past regulars, current regulars and friends just wanting to say farewell.

My heart is full, my body is exhausted and my brain is full of mixed emotions.

What a day…thank you all so much 🙏🏽❤️

Y’all…the response has been amazing!! We have been swamped, overwhelmed and exhausted 😂 The outpouring of love has been insane and so amazing!!

While I have a moment I wanted to take the time to say some things.

First off- THANK YOU! To all the wonderful people who have supported me, my restaurant and my employees over the years. We have met so many amazing people and made so many friends. It always has and always will be the best part of this journey!

THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who have worked at Miss delta…there’s been so many of you but just know I am forever grateful for you and making this little place work for 19 years!

So many people have asked specifically why we are closing…I’m gonna say a lot of the same things all the other small businesses that are closing all over the country have said. The combination of local policies and national policies that are just not working makes it really difficult to stay in business! Inflation, tariffs, lack of sales, less foot traffic, crime, drugs, mental health, taxes and more just continue to crush small businesses.

Up until the pandemic, things were going well…ever since then things just have never been the same. We were doing somewhat better in 2024 but then 2025 hit and policies that work against us started happening and 2026 has just gotten significantly worse!

Small profit margins, 20-30% less sales and prices significantly higher on a lot of products just doesn’t add up.

There are other personal reasons also including me choosing to leave the industry and more but no need to go into all that.

So there it is…time to admit the dream has become a nightmare and now it’s time to wake up!

We have one more day of business this Thursday, July 2nd and then the lights go out. I hope to see any of you I haven’t seen yet and wish nothing but the best for y’all!

UPDATE!!

Our last day is now Thursday, July 2nd due to staffing shortage. Some of our staff have gained other opportunities to move on and I definitely don’t want to hinder that!!

I apologize for the change🙏🏽

That being said…Thursday night is gonna be a good one!

We’re at the end of the Miss delta road my friends…after 19 years of delicious southern food and so much fun, me and my family have decided to close the doors on the Miss delta chapter of our lives.

I could give y’all a million different reasons for closing up shop but there’s mainly two reasons why we made this decision-

1. After the death of a business partner, covid shutdowns, break-ins, a fire, multiple floods and now hard economic times- I just don’t have it in me to fight for it anymore and do everything needed to keep going!

2. After 37 years in the restaurant industry, I am leaving and moving into a different career path. The restaurant industry is a wild one and I’m ready to step back and try a new challenge with a better work/life balance!

We will be open until July 3rd with our normal hours and possibly a little shindig on our last day🔥

Come out and say hi until the last biscuit is out of the oven and let us give you hugs and fill your belly one last time before we lock the doors!

Tom and I love y’all and appreciate all your support, friendships and good times over the years.
