I have come to the conclusion that it is time to close the doors to Back Bay Grill and say goodbye. This was not easy, but it is time for me to step out of the kitchen, and move on.

Thank you for sharing your lives with me. Your laughter, and stories. Your special occasions, and family milestones. Thank you for the years. It's been wonderful in so many ways. You became part of my family, and I loved cooking for you, and seeing the joy Back Bay Grill added to your day.

I was fortunate to have such incredible staff over the years, and they too are part of my family.

I’d like to think we did Joel proud. He was a constant presence and a guide for me.

I will be emptying the restaurant over the next few weeks, and selling equipment and other items. Feel free to reach out to me if there is something you'd like to purchase, or ask about.

Back Bay Grill will live on in my memory, as I hope it does in yours.

The past few weeks have gone by in a whirlwind. We're grateful for the good wishes and visits from you, our loyal customers.

We're excited to introduce you to Six Degrees at Back Bay Grill, and are certain that if you love the service, quality and experience of Back Bay Grill, you'll love this new phase. We'll keep you posted with photos of our renovations and tempt your appetite with pictures of new dishes to come under Chef Nick Gratton. We expect to reopen mid to late September. When we welcome you to Six Degrees at Back Bay Grill you'll find a few familiar faces, including Brian, our sous chef who is celebrating 6 years with the team, Franco, who has been running one of the most important parts of any restaurant kitchen for decades, and Chris and Peter. Of course, it will all feel different too, but you'll find a few beloved dishes have remained (we'll give you a hint, one is a dessert!).

It's an emotional time, saying goodbye for now and planning for our next phase. Adrian Stratton, our GM, has a few words to share:

"Thank you to all of our guests over the last 17-18 years. Our weekly guests who came in religiously. Our monthly guests. Our winter guests. Our summer guests. Our once a year/special occasion guests.

It has been my pleasure to get to know you all, and to have been part of so many wonderful relationships throughout the years. We have shared stories of our children growing up, of our families expanding and shrinking. We have shared laughter and sorrow. We have shared a love of good food, wine, cocktails, friendship and fun.

I truly appreciate all of your generosity and friendships. I will not forget you. These are very dear memories that I will have with me forever.

Thank you too to my wonderful staff, past and present, that I have had the pleasure to work with.

Thank you to Chef Matthews (Boss), the most talented chef I have known. Boss, Chef, Godfather of Fine Dining and My Friend, Larry Matthews, Jr.

We're making some changes! First, it's time to say farewell to Adrian Stratton, our general manager and best-all-round person. At the end of the month, he's moving on to better hours and his next chapter. Which brings us to our next big announcement -- starting in mid-September Back Bay Grill will become Six Degrees at Back Bay Grill, a pop-up restaurant incubator. This new venture will be owned by Larry Matthews and run by Don Purdy along with Mariah and Matt Dyer, joined by Chef Nick Gratton. We're going to serve the Back Bay Grill classics Thursday - Saturday nights for the rest of August, close for a bit, and reopen as Six Degrees at Back Bay Grill. We're excited to share this next phase with you, and remain committed to the same level of quality and service. We will continue to honor BBG gift cards. See you soon!

We are opening our doors this weekend and have a few spots available for tonight and tomorrow night (July 31 and Aug 1).
