About Us
The first Lovejoy's Tea Room opened in San Francisco in the early 1990s. Originally an antique shop that served a good cup of tea, the customers soon became more interested in the tea and scones than in the antiques. Thus, the tea room was born.
The name Lovejoy's was inspired by Jonathan Gash's novels about the adventures of an antique dealer named Lovejoy. The novels were followed by a BBC television series starring Ian McShane, which ran from 1986-1994.
Lovejoy's Portland opened in the Concordia neighborhood of NE Portland in March of 2019 and is independently owned and operated by Brendon Constans.
While living in San Francisco, Brendon fell in love with the Lovejoy's Tea Room experience, becoming a regular customer. Ever since moving to Portland in 2011, he'd dreamed of recreating that experience in the Pacific Northwest. In 2018, with the help of Muna and Gillian of Lovejoy's Tea Room Licensing, he decided to finally fulfill that dream by opening Lovejoy's Tea Room of Portland.
