Hey y’all, meet Thanh and King! They are the new owners of Either/Or! When asked why they wanted to take over Either/Or, they said “It just felt right. We love the energy, neighborhood, food/drinks and community around it. We are immigrants from Vietnam and have family members who are LGBTQI+ so having a space where everyone feels welcome is important because it’s not always like that. We will try to keep everything the same. When we started looking into the cafe we also noticed a lot of other BIPOC businesses owners around and are excited to be part of that.” The Nguyen’s have a very large family full of entrepreneurs with small businesses all around Portland and Clackamas. Prior to this endeavor, they owned a food cart called where Thanh was the chef. Once they get a good handle on things, Thanh hopes to get back in the kitchen where she’s the most comfortable and add Vietnamese dishes to the menu for evening service.

*ANNOUNCEMENT*
Either/Or has been sold to the Nguyen family. I didn’t want to see it on the list of small businesses closing up, and didn’t have the energy to run it anymore. is continually growing and is needing more of my attention. Plus once you get a taste of that work life balance, it’s hard to go back to the unpredictable life as a cafe owner.
It took a while to find the right fit. It was really important for me to have the business continue operating in the hands of BIPOC folks with a focus on the LGTBQI+ community. The Nguyen’s fell in love with what we’ve all built up together over the last decade and want to continue operating everything the same way. Everyone is keeping their jobs, it’s still Q***r AF, the name, brand, menu etc isn’t going anywhere and I get to stay on to do the stuff I really enjoy like Q***r karaoke!
Thank you everyone for your support over the years. What started out as a dream of opening little coffee shop turned into way more than I could have imagined. Stay tuned for other exciting things on the horizon and follow me to see what’s brewing. I’ll introduce ya’ll to the new owners tomorrow. -Ro
